How much does counselling cost?

Our intern therapists charge $85 per 50 minute session.
Are your services covered by extended health benefits?
Counselling with a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Social Worker is usually covered by a majority of insurance plans. We have worked with clients who were covered by Manulife, Sun Life, Great-West life, Green Shield, Blue Cross and other insurance companies. Students at the University of Guelph, University of Waterloo, and Wilfrid Laurier University can also take advantage of our counseling services as they are covered by their student benefits.
Each insurance company has different policies and so it’s hard to determine which plans cover what. To find out if your insurance plan covers therapy services, you can:
- Contact your insurance company to confirm if you are covered for counseling/therapy with a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Social Worker
- Look on your insurance company’s benefits online to find out if their is coverage on counseling with a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Social Worker
- Email your HR representative to find out if your benefits include counseling/therapy with a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Social Worker
Receipts are provided with license number at the end of each session. Fees for Registered Psychotherapy or Registered Social Worker may be reimbursable by your extended health benefits. Please contact your insurance company to confirm your available coverage per year.
What is your rescheduling policy?
We require at least 48 hours’ notice for cancelling/rescheduling appointments. Cancellations within this 48 hour window will be charged 50% of the session fee. In case of emergencies or illness, the fee will be waived.
What are your payment options?
Payments are accepted through credit card or e-transfer. The credit cards accepted are Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. Payments are due at the end of each session.
Are your services tax deductible?
If you do not have insurance, our services are also considered as authorized medical expenses in Ontario as recognized by the CRA and services are deductible for your annual tax return. To learn more about this option, click here.
