Counselling for Grief and Loss
We will all experience grief and loss at some point in our lives, but most of us will never be prepared for it. Grief and loss doesn’t only happen with the death of a loved one but also during the end of a relationship and in the diagnosis of a serious health problem.
What is grief counselling?
Grief counselling is a form of psychotherapy designed to help people cope with the grief and mourning following the death of a loved one. It can also help with the significant life changes that trigger feelings of grief.
Not all people need grief counselling. Each individual has their own coping mechanism that they employ to help them mourn and endure the feelings of grief until they finally move on. However, counselling is generally recommended to individuals whose grief are:
- Interfering with daily activities;
- Causing problems in existing relationships;
- Causing feelings of guilt and depression; or
- Causing problems with existing relationships.
Loss and grief may even be felt during life transitions like leaving a job, moving out of the family home or moving to a new country. Whatever you’re experiencing, we at Chettiar Counselling are here to help you.
